Popular Pastoral
“Popular Pastoral”
After collaging drawings, I revisited the simplicity of ink on paper in the “Popular Pastoral” where the drawings are based on images I have collected from books, newspapers, and magazines. As I created these drawings, I realized how much they resembledmovie posters”of imaginary movies. From this body of work, I started to explore images and vignettes without any obvious Indian signifiers (though I strongly believe the kitsch and fantasy of the work are evocative of Bollywood cinema).
